If your question is can you use Simplisafe 2 sensors with Simplisafe 3, the short answer is no. Different technology and not compatible. Also, if you are talking about non SS sensors, again, the answer is no.
@judyknox Outdoor camera needs the SS3 base. Overall, SS3 is vastly improved and superior to SS2. Call SS for upgrade options and also checkout Best Buy. Some incredible deals out there now.
The Gen 3 system uses a totally different method of communication, so unfortunately it's not able to receive signals from any of the Original-generation components. But if you haven't heard, we do have an upgrade program that can get you at least 50% off your entire upgrade order - and that's available year round.

just wondering if everything had to be replaced with a new sustem-- we wanted to add outdoor cameras.
