Entry Sensor Parts

Is there somewhere we can get replacement parts for the entry sensors?  The piece that has the adhesive on it (not the adhesive strips themselves).  I didn't have time to fully remove them and I slid the sensor and magnet out before they replaced my windows.

@clhenry I would call SS support to ask but wouldn't hope for much. Just a fyi, you can get a break on a set of 4 entry sensors at Best Buy, in case you have to buy replacements.

Hi @clhenry ,

You're looking for the Mounting Bracket. Our Support team can send you some free of charge!

@davey_d I called their customer support, and to be clear: they will only do this if you're signed up with a paid plan.

I got ahold of some used equipment and needed new mounting brackets for the sensor magnets, and I can't see anywhere to even buy them without buying all-new sensors (about $225 in my case). I was excited to start with the DIY security system and upgrade to a paid plan later if I liked it. But since they're kneecapping me over mounting brackets and trying to use that as leverage to force me into buying, I'll just throw this away and try my luck with Ring or another competitor. A company that will withhold cheap plastic brackets unless you sign up for a paid plan is not worth getting involved with.

To anyone considering SimpliSafe: be warned.

@alexl for what it's worth, the mounting bracket for the magnet is there to make future removal easier, and enable screw mounting if you wish. You could absolutely just stick them in place with strips of 3M Command Adhesive, and they will work the same.

Can I get a replacement for the entry sensor part that attaches to the window casing? It is the larger of the two parts. I have the mounting bracket and part that attaches to the window sash.

The window roller shade bottom bar gets stuck under the sensor. In hindsight, I should have mounted the sensor as low as possible. It is in a kids' room and the casing sensor is MIA.

Thank you.

@jkbiz1

I copied my Q into the SimpliSafe Chat and they resolved it live. They were incredibly helpful, professional, and articulate. I'm impressed across the board.

I've just reached max frustration trying to get an answer from SS to what I thought was a simple question: "What size command strip do I need to replace the one that comes with the entry sensor?". SS answer: "We don't know.".

@franks_lee In general, support is pretty good, but like any organization, there are newbies that need more training, or, those that winged it and been there awhile, but need more training. The responsible party: Simplisafe and the immediate supervisor and/or manager. If you got the name of the agent, or SS, you know who frans_lee is so you can listen to the call or read the chat, this and all like this should be addressed.

Now, franks_lee, if you are still with me, my apologies for putting you 2nd, 3M variety pack or, specifically the entry sensor, item#17024ES.  Note, I like buying the variety pack so I can tackle keypads, motions and everything inbetween.  See photos below too. (Added tips: for uneven wall corners, highly recommend 3M Velco strips. They are thicker and really secure sensors in the corner of rooms.  Also, larger strips can be easily cut to the size you need.

I called the support staff to get a couple mounting brackets for the entry sensors is mine have broken and they told me they don’t ship those out to you unless you’re still in warranty. I’m surprised they don’t sell these anywhere because they break very easily.

I'm disappointed that they won't provide these cheap plastic mounts. If you have a 3D printer though, I modeled them and printed my own, which works fine: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6779111

The entry sensor backs are $5 on Etsy for other options.

@dwehlp0758 You can try SS support, either by calling or chat, or, Amazon and Etsy may have a solution for you. Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.

I was on chat with the support team for almost 30 minutes yesterday asking how I can obtain new brackets and the agent was clueless. Sent me a link to a smoke detector, tried to get me support with the moving team, and told me they couldn't provide me with the information on where to get new brackets.

My sensor came off while trying to chance battery: needs new tape strip or sensor assembly. Hopefully replacing strip is available!

@yuguchi1 highly recommend you go to Lowe's home Depot or Ace hardware and just buy a large pack of 3M velcro strips.  I use them instead of the traditional 3M strips and work great. If you buy large strips you can just cut to size with scissors.  If velcro is not for you,  just get the regular 3M strips.
