Base Station Disconnecting from Wi-Fi

Almost 3 weeks have elapsed with no return of the “wireless interference” messages. That is not to say it won’t return.

alfeck14 mentioned the camera shutter opening and closing. (The telltale click is quite loud). That was also happening to us. So unnerving I unplugged the camera for about a week. However plugged it back in as we only use it to monitor the 4-legged’s mischief when we’re out. I wish I knew what was up with that! (The camera not the mischief.)

Separate issue for a separate post is base station constantly losing WiFi connection and having to be manually reconnected instead of automatically reconnecting as it’s should.  Sigh.

As to the battery issues, there was some of that at the beginning several years ago but they sent replacement batteries promptly and no issues ever since. The system seems to accurately monitor the battery life.  I’ve also had very good experiences with their Customer Service over the phone. Not so much with the Chat feature.

@MaggieLM I broke your comment off into its own post so we can continue to troubleshoot here.

Regarding your indoor camera, has there been any pattern to when you notice its Privacy Shutter open and close? Whenever the SimpliSafe system is disarmed, your camera’s Privacy Shutter will briefly open so it can film a short recording. This is an intentional feature so you have footage of who disarmed the system.

If the Base Station loses its Wi-Fi connection it should automatically reconnect on its own. How far away is the Base Station from the Wi-Fi router? Moving the Base Station about 5-10 feet away from the router can help it maintain a Wi-Fi connection. It can also help to create a guest Wi-Fi network locked at 2.4GHz and connect only your SimpliSafe devices to it.

There hasn’t been a discernible pattern with the camera shutter. It’s definitely not related to the disarming process as it occasionally happens when I’m just standing in the kitchen.
The base station is already in direct line to the modem and within 10 feet. I’ve seen reports of this issue on other Community threads but haven’t had time to deal with it. I do not want to create a separate 2.4 hz network. I shouldn’t have to. This started happening sometime early last year. It’s just a nuisance but the system still functions.

I should also add that the Privacy Shutter on that camera is set to closed for both the Home and Off settings. It is only set to open when the system is armed in Away mode. So it should never be opening when anyone is home.
