Simplisafe Model Analyzed

Interesting article on the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has effected sales and services in the "stay at home model". SS is used as example. Don't know if I necessarily agree with it (ie digital assistants..?? Limited to the extent it being pretty much useless, or near that as far as SS is concerned) but it is still an interesting read.  Enjoy and feel free to post your thoughts!

Interesting, but as a photographer, I've seen the photographic software industry turn to the subscription business model for things like Photoshop, Lightroom, and their competitors.

The thing about subscriptions is that they ABSOLUTELY have to provide significant added value for the money.  If all it offers the consumer a more efficient way for the vendor to open his wallet, the vendors will find a significant churning of their user base as people look for the most value for their money.

5$ here, 5$ there starts to add up after a while.  I've canceled my Sirius/XM subscription in favor of the (sorta) free Amazon music, and the free Pandora service, but I've kept my SS subscription, and my Microsoft 365 subscription because the value added to my life is significant.

Video Streaming, Ancestry.com and other subscription services continue to see me opt in on a limited bases as my needs change.
