News Story - Man cuts power, disables alarm and breaks into home

I wasn't sure exactly what thread to put this in or how to title it:

I just finished reading a story about a man in Texas who broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and shot her 4 times.  Prior to entering, he cut the power to her house to disable the alarm system.   Amazingly, according to the story, the woman is in stable condition.

This made me appreciate how SimpliSafe will continue to work even if power is lost.
