ADT Strikes again: Sorry, no monitoroing but you can upgrade for 4K

Every time I think ADT cannot get any lower, morally bankrupt and a true friend to "Philadelphia Lawyers" everywhere, I see a new newsstory that proves they keep going lower and lower.  Here ya go, a news video that's hard to believe.  And SS, now you can add how you would have handled this...or prevented it in the first place.

https://www.click2houston.com/news/investigates/2022/09/19/kprc-2-investigates-why-some-home-alarm-systems-are-not-actually-being-monitored/

BTW, for those of you that complained about the $3 increase for SS monitoroing, this ADT customer was paying $259 and change per month!

Hi Captain,

Thanks for sharing this important story. As you know, at SimpliSafe, our mission is to make every home secure. As you mentioned, we do operate differently from our competitors. Our prices are lower and we do not require long term contracts. We believe consumers should be free to pick the best service providers for the best value.  And we enable our customers by putting full control of their system at their fingertips.

With a SimpliSafe system, you wouldn’t be left in the dark on whether or not your system was still connected. You’ll get a “No Link to Dispatch” message from the Base Station, Keypad, and via SMS text and email. If you get any of these warnings, we strongly suggest reaching out to our Support team so we can help get your system back online ASAP.

In that article you linked, that customer was unfortunately caught in sunsetting - in this case, with cell providers phasing out older generations of cellular networks in favor of more advanced tech. That means devices that are only able to connect to that older tech would be permanently disconnected.

Most SimpliSafe Base Stations purchased after December 2019 are already on 4th-generation cell networks (4G LTE). And for systems purchased prior to that date, SimpliSafe has also been proactively reaching out to customers with an ongoing email, SMS text, and phone call program to either upgrade the cell module at no cost, or upgrade the full Original SimpliSafe system to current gen at a huge discount!

If you purchased your system before December 2019 and want to find out more about upgrading your cell module, head over to our Help Center page here. Or for info on upgrading from an Original to Gen 3 system, head here.

@davey_d Thank you for the detailed reply. Another sign that Simplisafe is indeed quite different than the dark empire ADT. :_)   While not perfect, Simplisafe continues to provide the best overall value and product in the home security market.
