Trouble with Smart Alarm Camera Setup

This is also happening to me when adding the new smart camera. As soon as I select the camera type, it tries to detect/update base station version, then crashes. I've restarted my phone, the base station, and the camera. No luck, clearly an app problem.

Hi @dmurphy ,

Since you replied to a thread where the last replies were 4 years ago, you're probably experiencing a totally different issue.

And I think you're right, this might be an issue with the in-app Base Station firmware update. As a workaround, I suggest manually updating the Base Station's firmware through the Keypad (you can find instructions here).

After that, try installing the Smart Alarm Cam again.

I am having problems setting up the smart indoor camera also. I can set any other camera but not this one. The app looks for the latest update. The app doesn’t and I also got the latest update for the app. I tried to update number of times. Supposedly technical help sees the update downloading but I see no sign of it. The base station light is blue as soon as I go into the menu with the key pad. I do update check and it displays update to down load 25 minutes. If I acknowledge the OK the base station says alarm off and the light is off. No indication of downloading. Did a diagnostic check and everything looks good. I suspect something not right with the software because it is the only one causing problems. I think the latest came out in September with the outdoor camera update.

@jjcarter518 The Smart Alarm Indoor Camera does require the latest Base Station firmware update in order to be installed to your system. When updating the Base Station, the system will be disarmed and Keypad will provide an update on the process. You can learn more about updating the Base Station's firmware in this Help Center article.

The Base Station and Keypad both need to be connected to Wi-Fi in order to download a firmware update, so there may be a connection issue that is preventing the firmware from downloading completely. It can help to temporarily connect your Base Station and Keypad to a hotspot to complete the firmware update, and then reconnect them to your main network once the update is complete.

After the Base Station's firmware has been updated, try installing your Smart Alarm Indoor Camera again.
