I had that issue on my two original charger. I ended up getting two new one, but never deployed them.
I do not recommend this solution, but it did work for me. I brought out my cell phone and plugged it into the charger. It show the phone was charging. I then plugged in the cameras and they showed the charging symbol. All has been well since then.

Where should this icon appear? I have the battery indicator showing on my phone for the camera but nothing else?

It is located on camera section on phone app. Sometimes you might need to activate each camera to get it to update.
