SimpliCam Not Recording Motion

I installed the Simpli Cam the other day. When I pull it up on the phone or computer, the picture is great, clear and precise. Both at night and during the day. But it is only recording before and after the alarm is put in Home/Away mode. So even when it is in Home mode, and someone drops a package off for instance, it doesn't pick it up, nor record it. I have the alarm setting on high and shutter is open for Home, Away, and Off. Any ideas???

Describe how the camera is set up and located relative to the area you are trying to monitor.

Is the camera, by chance, "watching" through a window?

What is the distance from the camera to the package drop area?

The camera is mounted outside with the outdoor package in the corner above the front door, the mail carrier walks up the driveway and places a package on the front step in direct view of the camera, no more than 8 feet from the actual camera. There are many other instances where there was no recording. Had a family member leave a package, and Easter eggs, etc in the front yard and front step etc and no notification and no warning.

Check your camera settings within the app.  You need to make sure the privacy shutter is set to OPEN for any mode you want motion recordings to happen.  Make sure Motion Events is turned ON and you might have to try increasing the sensitivity.

My outdoor camera stopped working today. It works if you ring doorbell but does not work for motion. It has always worked until today. I have done all the things suggested and there all is set correctly as it has been for the past 3 months when my motion detector worked. Also, my app has crashed twice today when opening timeline for camera.

Same thing for both of my cameras. Everything works but the motion detection. Also, the light at the top is off.  It is supposed to be solid blue when idle. It does blink blue when I use the app to view the camera's. Was there some kind of update that caused this?  Both of my cameras were working fine just a couple days ago.

Try deleting the simplisafe app and re-installing it and resetting the cameras. Each camera has a reset button; for Simplicam it is on top; hold it down for 10 seconds or slightly more.
For the Video Doorbell Pro it has 2 reset buttons on the back after you unmount it; first press and release the smallest button on the back(this restarts the camera once you place it back on the charging mount), then take it off the mount and hold down the larger button on the back of the doorbell for TEN seconds or slightly more then place back on the mount.

When you do these you setup the camera(s) again as if you were adding new camera(s).

OP - have you tried resetting as the last post suggested? Did that work?

I'm having the same experience with a newly installed simplicam with outdoor kit. Getting some motion detection during the day (not all) and none at night. Mine too is set to the highest sensitivity and open shutter when Home Away and Off. Main point for purchase was motion detection recording at night, would love to get this working as it should otherwise I have no use for it.

Same experience here with the outdoor kit and my camera. Anyone ever get this resolved?

This month I bought a SimpliCam and an outdoor kit and mounted it outside. During my motion testing, the camera does not consistently pick up on (Record) all obvious motion events and has not sent any motion notifications at all. I do have all motion notifications set correctly both in the SimpliSafe app as well as notification phone settings. This is my 2nd refurbished replacement to correct the issues. I'll call SimpliSafe again to hopefully resolve the issues.

Keep in mind that the "motion detection" is "change in heat".  And temperature outdoors fluctuates more than it does indoors, where the camera is actually designed to operate.  All the "outdoors" kit does is make the thing water resistant.
