Simplicam motion detection through a window - any solutions?

I have my simplicam set up in a great position through my front window - it catches people in my driveway, and approaching my porch. I disabled the IR light so that there is minimal glare at night, and my porch and driveway remain illuminated by motion lights at night so the dark is not an issue.

The problem is, I can't get the motion sensor to trigger at all through the window, even on the highest sensitivity. Is there any workaround? Can I place a motion sensor outside and use it to JUST trigger the camera? Is there a buffer that maybe stores footage for a minute or so from before an alarm is triggered so I might be able to get some use out of this if it wont trigger on motion through a window?  The status light remaining illuminated is also intimidating (unless a crook identifies the camera and knows that the light being on solid means it's not actually recording anything). Maybe it would catch them on the way out, I guess?
I'm not interested in having this thing pointing inside the house - even with the privacy shield I'm just not comfortable with it. Having it closed in "home" mode sort of defeats the purpose anyway unless an alarm is triggered.

I really want to find a way to make this work - it's so close to perfect how I have it set up. Curious if anyone else has been successful in using their Simplicam through a window.

@westerson if you do a google site search on this topic in the forums, you will find several other threads on this topic.

try www.simplisafe.com/forum simplicam camera motion window

I will tell you its not promising and you may be better off waiting for the release of outside cameras (we all have been waiting quite a while) or try the SS outdoor camera kit that goes over your Simplicam so you can actually mount it outside. My choice is that I am waiting for the outdoor cameras.

@Captain11 - Okay, I will wait for the outdoor camera. Does anyone know if there are any plans for the release of a wireless, battery powered video doorbell a la ring? My house is not wired for a doorbell and there's no feasible way to rig it for one without great cost. At this point I'm wondering if I should return the system and go with Ring as the provided keypad was already defective.

Even a doorbell without a camera which would activate my indoor cam (pointed out the window) would be great. I don't necessarily understand why that's not feasible, it seems to me like that would work for many people and be a useful feature to have.

Same problem here. It picks up motion very well in the house but does not pick anything through the window outside. I tried different sensitivity levels but still does not pick up motion.  I'm still waiting for the "winter" sleeve.

FWIW, not that it makes anyone happy to hear it, but IR type motion detection just doesn't work reliably through glass regardless of the camera brand. Just sayin' in case anyone thinks motion sensing not working through glass is strictly a SS thing. It's not.
