Silent Alarm and Cameras

Up until the new firmware update, the Camera would turn on when a silent alarm was triggered e.g. a certain entry sensor was opened. Seems this no longer works. Can someone confirm this was removed? I'd prefer no t to have motion sensor on all the time on the camera

@Craigfourie, the motion sensors on the cameras never would result in an alarm, turning on the cameras only.  All of mine are set to off and will record on any alarm event, or turning or shutting the alarm off.

correct - but if you triggered a silent alarm they would open and record. They dont anymore - you have to leave the privacy shutter open now

@Craigfourie  a quick story, if I may, on this.  Right out of college, I was a mgt trainee at a branch of a commercial bank, large one at that, at least for that area.  My official title was Asst Branch Manager, and as such was responsible for security drills each month. For my first one, I walked in as the "robber", walked up to one of my tellers and said "hi, I am here to rob you." I should note that the local town police were on site and knew (notified previously) this was just a drill.  The teller, as trained, dutiful hit the "silent alarm".

To my horror our 4 security cameras went from a solid green  light to a solid red one, and all clicked and whirled enough to raise the dead. After the drill, I instructed my staff never to hit the "silent" alarm until any robber was well out of the building. When he returned, my manager disagreed but I stood fast and sent a complaint into the main office.

If I or my wife are entering a duress code because someone has a gun to our head, if it disarms but they hear the privacy lens going up, sorry, but I like the system to behave exactly as you described.

I will call SS tomorrow to confirm this behavior for the cameras was intentional. I hope so.  I also should mention that my 3 Simplicams, whenever armed, always have the privacy guard open, for home and away.

Hope I got the correct understanding of your post. If not, I do apologize.
