Recording When System is Off!

Our indoor cameras (wired and wireless) are randomly recording when the system is off. It's happening even when there is not anyone/thing in the room. It's happening when the privacy shutter is off. Very unsettling receiving a text saying that there is motion in another room of your home when all family members and pets are together in a different room AND your system is off. What is happening???

I would go into settings for that camera and toggle the shutter on and save then off and save and make sure the shutter is supposed to be closed in off, home and of course by default open for away. It may reset itself once you do the first thing

Thank you for your response - it makes sense - I tried doing that - no change.

@mls have you tried deleting camera then adding it back? If that's doesn't help I don't know then unless the privacy shutter is stuck open

I later realized that I hadn't changed all 4 cameras as only 3/4 were involved with this random recording issue. To double check, I went back into settings - all of the last photos for our 5 (indoor and outdoor) cameras and bell were blank/gone...? I did as lance843 suggested and changed, saved, changed, and re-saved the old settings. To date, this seems to have resolved the issue. I will update here if this changes. Thank you!

The SA cameras, if configured properly to not to record in off mode, should do exactly that: nothing. Our 3 SA cameras are privacy shutter closed in off mode, open in home and away (we arm to home when we go to bed, all on the 2nd floor with cameras on the first floor).  If you are sure your configuration is correct and still have the problem, call support to troubleshoot.

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.

Hi @mls,

Do you notice this behavior happening to all of your indoor cameras at the same time? Or is it sporadic with different cameras at different times? As lance843 mentioned, it may be that the privacy shutter is getting stuck open for some reason. Generally, performing a reset on the cameras can remedy this.

We list the steps to reset each camera in the How to Reset Your Smart Alarm Wireless Indoor Security Camera and the How to Reset the SimpliCam Wried Indoor Security Camera articles in the Help Center.

Also, do you have any of your sensors set to Secret Alert? Whenever a Secret Alert is triggered, your cameras will film a short recording.
