Problems with 3rd Party Doorbell Cameras

Found a very interesting article on buying 3rd party cameras on Amazon or Ebay.  Adds a different perspective on why Simplisafe is very conservative with its integration of third party devices and keeps tight control. Less ways for hackers to pierce the encryption of SS3.

I would love to discuss this online with other registered SS verified customers in a chat room, online webinar etc in a CRC but unfortunately, none of this exists at this time so at least here it is in a thread in the existing forum.  Very interested to hear from others!

I've said it once and will again - will never understand why people feel the need to completely 'automate' their home (no matter the brand, they are all suspect), at the expense of their own security and privacy. (I see on that site an article headline about robotic vacuums now collecting data, lol, is anyone surprised?)

Colt, I think you are on to something.  I can see the diabolic conspiracy now. Christian Cerda leaves iRobot to become CEO of Simplisafe. After perfecting surveillance software and capabilities on Roombas, he is now sinisterly expanding his reach on Simplicams and the SS Doorbell Pro all across the nation....wait, a screen just popped up on my monitor and he is waving to me.....:-)

But wait, there's too many glitches in the cams and doorbell at this point, it's a work in progress! (lol, I hear you, Cerda's connection to iRobot, funny!) - not so funny, however, is the keypads.  Yes, the keypads!  I think that's where it starts, they're getting creepier by the minute (I'm going to resort to covering the display, the phantom lighting-up is just....really creepy :)

@colt, not so creepy when you talk to support to get to the bottom of it....at least for my daughter's and son-in-law's system. Bad proximity sensor. SS replaced it and no "ghosts" since.

Have a great thanksgiving,

Thanks, Captain, just don't understand why the lighting up was always an issue (and ALL 4 of my keypads), from the first rollout of SS3 (I was only a month later than you with purchase) and has continued to be for many users since.
