I just discovered that the monitoring service does not respond to motion detection from outside cameras until there's a break in. Not great.
I am also unable to figure out how to set them up so as only to detect motions and notify me when the system is in "away" mode. If this is not possible, I will continuously receive notifications of movement! Even less great.

There is no way to tie the operation of the camera to the alarm mode at this time. This has been raised many times, with no response from SimpliSafe beyond them saying 'this is being looked at by engineering'
This is one of the many shortcomings of this product. And yes, you will constantly receive notifications. The only way to disable them, is to turn off motion detection in the app for each camera, which obviously is a terrible solution.
