Outdoor Camera

I see that an outdoor camera is now available. However, wiring up with a 20 ft power cord is old technology.
Is there a wireless outdoor cam with motion lighting and remote siren activation in the development stage ? If so, what is the anticipated release date?

Where did you see that SS had an outdoor camera?  They are working on one, but it has not been announced as available yet.

"Wireless" means the signal is wireless, not that there are no wires.  "Battery powered" is the descriptor you are looking for.

SS will probably "never" have a camera with lighting, and remote siren activation likely won't be any time soon.  Their current design philosophy seems to be that the cameras don't talk to the alarm system directly.

On one of the tech sites announcing SS's CES products last year, it stated:

" The HD outdoor camera is motion-triggered and equipped with a bright spotlight to ward off any would-be intruder. It is battery powered, capturing up to a year of crystal clear video clips on a single charge. " - other sites stated similar specs (that it would be motion-triggered and be battery powered)

Of course, that could have only been a seed in SS's eye at the time, and the camera might be something completely different by now, if we ever see it.

It is certainly technically possible.  I base my prediction on SS's history of hewing to their own vision without deviation.  But they could have come to their senses.  Stranger things have happened, but not often...

I think what the OP is referring to is that the page where they list additional sensors now lists the "Outdoor Kit" that they've had for a very long time now, but previously only sold through calling CS on the phone.

It could mean they're trying to clear stock of the outdoor kits before they start selling the outdoor cameras, or it could mean that they've scrapped the outdoor camera and decided the rubber raincoat is good enough.

Or, possibly they mean the video doorbell.
