Outdoor Camera w/Motion Off

I bought a few weeks ago a 2nd Outdoor Camera for the front porch. Unfortunately the battery drains in 2 days because there is an sidewalk that is pretty active and the motion detection is triggering all day long. I've blocked the area with zones but still not good especially at night.

If I turn the motion detection off will that camera start recording if someone triggers the alarm?

I'd like the camera not to be a total waste.

I did just buy the solar panel to see what help that does when it comes.

Hi @eamail2001 ,

Sorry to hear that you're seeing this issue. Depending on sunny it is on that side of the house, the Solar Panel might indeed help.

But to answer your question, yes, like our other cameras, the Outdoor Camera will still record whenever there's an alarm event, even when the Motion Detector setting is off.

You might also want to consider disabling the notification, while still leaving the motion-triggered recordings themselves on.

Solar panels for the win as I have them and what a game changer that was

@lance843 I have the solar panels.  I have motion detection turned off and view my cameras maybe once a month but the battery still drains within 3-4 months and requires charging.  Very very disappointed in the lack of solar power efficiency

@lance843 solar panels are useless in NJ.  I have motion detection off and maybe check the camera once a month yet the batteries need recharging every 3-4 months.   Everything in my yard runs off solar but somehow these cameras that are never on can’t stay charged on solar.  Very disappointed
