Outdoor Camera Release

I'm getting really antsy waiting for the outdoor cameras that just don't seem to materialize. There was a post in June stating that they were very close to production but nothing yet. They demonstrated the outdoor camera at CES in January 0f 2018. I want to avoid adding a different system to my overall security system but there are over a dozen other vendors that have completely wireless outdoor cameras and I think I'm not going to wait any longer for SS to bring their camera to market.

Any suggestions?

You should call SS and purchase the outdoor kit for your current SimpliCam camera(s).

There is an outdoor kit for the camera? News to me. Why can you never find stuff on the site?

Because SS is controlled by people who think the CIA are too free with their secrets   :-)

They do not have it listed on the site, not sure why, but I received mine yesterday and I posted about it this morning in another thread, here is what I wrote:

I wish I took a picture but of course I forgot to!

The outdoor kit is a rubber-like skin that goes over the camera and the plug. The kit comes with a new electrical cord for the camera and is much longer. Comes with tacks for securing the wire as well as a ball-style mount so that you can mount the camera on an exterior wall and has full movement. I would probably not expect it is designed to be in direct water/sunlight but the skin should certainly protect the camera from most elements.

Overall I am very pleased with this option!

So, if it's not listed on the website, how did you order it?

You call and place your order.

Here is an image of what the SS is monitoring now that it is in the new outdoor skin and mounted on the back of the house: https://ibb.co/nyBG80

Ordered SimpliCam Outdoor Kit (White)

The skins are available in black and white. I was on the phone with Simplisafe for 10 minutes max (choose option 1) and shipping is $5 with USPS delivery.

Model: SSOK-EN-W

Recieved the outdoor kit and thought I would take some photos since this is not on the website that I could find. Will add more photos when I get it installed.

A couple of details from the manual. Cord is 25 feet. Not intended to be mounted on the ceiling.

Thank you for the pictures (it clears up many questions I had - a thousand words for sure). While I use a different brand for my security cameras, the ability to mount the SimpliSafe camera outside is enticing (especially when the cameras go on sale).

How do they not market this stuff on their website?!?! I'm so unimpressed thus far with their customer support. Half the things I ordered in my kit did not actually show up, they did not comply with the expedite shipping I paid for, and I had to go out and purchase two Nest outdoor cameras because I had no idea that they had an outdoor kit. Very unimpressed!

I was trying to purchase some additional components. But can't find them on the website. All there showing is package deals.

Speaking of which, SimpliSafe needs to make it simpler to find the link I provided. It is not clear on the website. Unless you have ordered additional components before, it can be a trial to locate.

Scroll to the bottom to add sensors and choose it. The reat is pretty self explanatory

I had no idea about the outdoor kit for the camera. However, I still need the option of a true wireless camera for outside. I don't want to drill holes and run new electric when the new camera is supposed to come out anytime now.

@murphmr, first, thank you for posting the pictures.  Looks like a bit RubeGoldberg, but guess it works. Second, you may want to take the link down as it does show your name.

@Captain11, no worries a quick google search will link murphmr to my real name.
