Outdoor camera range only 6-8ft?

Simplisafe requires the outdoor camera be mounted 6 to 8 feet from the base station.

Is it possible for Simplisafe to increase the distance?

We would love to buy the Simplisafe Outdoor Camera but with the requirement that the base station be approximately in the center of the house or as close as possible it is impossible for us to mount the Simplisafe Outdoor Camera given the 6 to 8 foot requirement.

Our base station is approximately in the center of the house and works perfectly with our water leak sensor in the crawlspace, window sensors all over the house, panic button, glass break sensor and motion sensor.

We hope the Simplisafe Outdoor Camera can have to ability to be installed further than 6 to 8 feet from the Simplisafe Base Station.

We appreciate the time Simplisafe might take to consider this suggestion.

Mine is much further away that that and works fine (or as fine as they ever do)

However based on my experience if you have power in the area, id consider the simplicam with an outdoor kit.

Hi @bbrenden

As the Outdoor Camera utilizes WiFi to connect to your system, you can mount it much further than 6-8 feet away from the Base Station. In general, we recommend mounting the Outdoor Camera 6-8 feet from the ground, rather than the Base Station. Apologies on the mix-up from our team.

If you have any other questions about the Outdoor Camera, I'd be happy to help answer them.

Many thanks, Alexandria C. That makes sense. My family was beginning to wonder what the heck was going on!

Now we can seriously budget for the Simplisafe Outdoor Camera. 😊

Another question: Does Simplisafe support two of these cameras at our home?
