Outdoor Camera non-event history view
I’ve had my Simplisafe for about a month now with the wireless outdoor camera. Coming from a NEST cam, I’m still trying to sort out the different operations. One nagging question I can’t seem to figure out is how to view “non-event” video history? For example, if a neighbors house across the street gets broken into overnight, can I manually scroll back through the night’s video to find it if it didn’t trigger an event since it would have been outside the range of my cam? So far I can only seem to view past “triggered events.” My NEST cam let me scroll back the last 5 days and watch any point in time. Is that not possible with SimpliSafe’s cams?
Also, I just installed the power cable for the outdoor cam so I never have to recharge it. The cord is durable and perfect length, but the end that plugs into the camera is at a right-angle that forces the cord downward (which makes sense if you’re running the line down the wall to an outlet), but since I rang the cord up into the soffit, it was extremely difficult to maneuver and then get the camera’s desired angle right-side-up. So I highly recommend the simplisafe team consider changing the right-angle plug into a standard straight plug to allow homeowners to run the cord any direction. Not the end of the world, but frustrating since it limits the vertical angle I can set the cam at now because it pushes on the brick and moves the magnetic connection down.

@tysonc welcome to the Simplisafe world! I think you will find SS3 a great system. As far as your comments on the cord, completely agree a straight connector would have been better but for my 2 outside cams it worked fine. With the SS outdoor cam, you can't scroll through a time period as it will only record on movement when detected and when you manually live stream and hit the record button. The range, I believe, at about 30 feet so I doubt it will get your neighbor's house. For me, it covers my house to the sidewalk in front (around the 30 ft mark) and all of my backyard, so I am good to go. BTW, if that range and feature is a deal breaker for you, you can return it for a full refund within 60 days you received it.

Hi tysonc,
Thanks for the feedback about the charging cable. I'll pass it on to our product folks.
captain11 is correct, and I just wanted to reiterate. Our cameras record only when there's an event. So there would be no further timeline outside of discrete events.
