Outdoor Camera Has Excessive Motion Detections When Sunny

My outdoor camera will have a motion detection 5-10 times per hour when it is sunny outside. When I check the recordings I cannot see anything that would cause the issue. I set sensitivity to low and clicked on as many squares as I can within the image to only monitor the portion I absolutely need, but that hasn't helped. When it is cloudy it works fine.

Hi @weathertom ,

Thanks for reporting. The only theory I have is that the camera's infrared sensor (that detects heat moving around in the scene) is being triggered, and then there's something in the scene that the camera is recognizing as "person-shaped" when it isn't. But we'll have to dig deeper, and maybe get some samples from you (if you're comfortable).

I've requested contact from one of our specialist agents so we can investigate further.

Ok, just let me know what I need to do, thank you.

It is set to low sensitivity, with more than half of the squares in the "activity zone" turned off. However, it is set for "all motion", not "people only". However, I have another camera set the same, and at medium sensitivity, which does not face the sun and does not have this issue.

I have seen this same issue. Was there a fix for the problem?

@bneumannAs Davey_D mentioned above, it could be that the Outdoor Camera's infrared sensor is getting triggered by the sun, causing it to incorrectly sense motion and begin recording. I wonder if slightly adjusting the angle of your camera would prevent this issue from happening?

I've forwarded your case details to our Specialist team. An agent will call you soon to investigate your camera further, so please keep an ear out for their call.
