Outdoor Camera firmware update suggestion

I've been using Simplisafe outdoor camera for couple of months and whenever I get notifications, it has about half of the recordings being delayed. There is a lag between first detection and the recording.
For example, when a person walks slowly from left side of garage to right side of garage, it only records about last quarter of the event.
Would it be possible to improve this?
That is the only complain I have. I wanted to return this camera but I thought if I can see if this can be improved via this forum, I would keep it.

Thanks.

The problem you're describing is something many of us have experienced with the outdoor cameras so it's not just you. We've been asking for improvement since day one and we've seen some firmware updates with some improvements but it's slow going.

Honestly I think there's probably some room for improvement via firmware updates but the reality is, since the camera is battery powered, it has to wake up before it can record and there's always going to be some kind of delay. The best we can hope for is that SimpliSafe can minimize that delay as much as possible but I don't see how they're going to eliminate that delay entirely. (And this is true for any battery powered camera that still behaves like a battery powered camera even when plugged in.)

For what it's worth, many of us have added cameras from other vendors to our security set up. One of the models I use records constantly, all the time, so I can go back about 7 days at any point and see what happened. This is great for when the motion alert doesn't catch and record everything but I still want to see what happened prior to the start of the clip. This is functionality that I *really* hope that SimpliSafe adds to whatever camera they release next, whenever that will be.
