Outdoor camera did not record criminals

We had a series of car break ins in our neighborhood last night. They were also in our driveway. The two SimpliSafe outdoor cameras I have installed recorded nothing overnight, but they recorded me and the FedEx guy just fine in the same place yesterday evening. No recording of the criminal. Cameras are set to normal sensitivity, people only, the person must have walked across the field of view, connectivity tested this morning, and it is great. I have a Blink camera (from my "old" system) installed next to it and it recorded the activity just fine. Very disappointing that both cameras failed when I needed them.....any ideas why they didnt record anything?

Hi,

So sorry to hear that you had trouble with your Outdoor Cams. The first thing we should investigate is both cameras' motion detection.

You mention that they seem to work fine in the daytime. But the detection does work differently at night. Have you ever tested your cameras when it's dark out? You might want to turn up the sensitivity, especially if the cameras are set up higher on the wall.

Of course, if you haven't already, give our Support team a call at 800-548-9508 and they can also take you through some troubleshooting steps.

Having the same problem since Oct 22. Approx a week ago I got a new router and extender. Doorbell and garage signal are great. However, still NOT RECORDING at night. I got a WYZE flood/cam near the garage that records excellent video at night while SS still not recording.

@caamano thanks for checking in. I'll ask you the same questions as the OP. When you try and walk up to the Video Doorbell at night, do you see it indicating that it's been triggered (e.g. lit up, and showing the faint red infrared light)? And also, when you livestream at night, do you see if the Video Doorbell has switched to Night Vision Mode, or is the image still dark?
