Outdoor camera battery power?

We recently installed a SimpliSafe system, including an outdoor camera. We charged the camera battery for five hours, as recommended, and installed it yesterday. Today, we received a "battery low" message from the base station. Shouldn't the battery last longer than one day? Has anyone else experienced this and if yes, how did you resolve it?

Hi @TCSalander, 

Your Outdoor Camera's battery should certainly be lasting longer than a day, especially when it was initially at a full charge! I'd be curious about the placement of your camera. Does it face a busy street with lots of movement - like cars or pedestrians? If it does, I would recommend setting up Activity Zones so you get alerts for motion that is only on your property. You can set up Activity Zones in the SimpliSafe mobile app under the three-bar menu on the upper lefthand side > My System > Camera Settings > Choose your Camera > Motion Detection.

We also list additional settings that can preserve the battery life of your Outdoor Camera in our Help Center which should extend the life of your battery.
