Not to spoil an upcoming post, but the biggest update is the addition of the Connection Check tool that you can now access in the Settings. More details for the other changes to come!
Mind you. this tool only helps determine if there's an issue with bandwidth, speed, or signal strength. If you're seeing a Good rating, then obviously the problem is not with those factors.
But there might still be an issue with how your router handles the signal, the connectivity of the app on your phone, etc.
Anyone noticing battery issues with this update? Since the update my devices are telling me within 2 days of putting a new battery in that it is critically low. When I got to charge the battery it still shows as mostly charged. Is it possible the firmware has a bug with battery level detection that is shutting down the cameras?
also odd is that it will tell me there is 0% battery then the next day it will turn on and say 20% battery - they aren’t attached to chargers….
@smn thanks for the feedback. I'll pass it on to our devs. Just in case it helps, have you already tried a reset? You can do that by pressing the button in the back for 16 seconds, and when you release, the camera can be set up again through the SimpliSafe app.
Also the new "Connection Check tool " does not work for me. It starts the test and after about 2min says the camera is busy. No, the camera is not recording at the time.
Is that with the camera outside? And have you tried it inside? And if you could let us know your SimpliSafe app version, as well as the exact version of your camera (listed in the Camera Settings section of the SimpliSafe app) that can help with investigating.
At this point with the many comments and bad reviews this product those have the performance improvement of the wireless camera should be thé thé focus instead of providing a tool to help determine if an issue with bandwidth, speed, or signal strength exist. This is only creating worst reviews and upset customer has their connecting check reports way above the recommended result.
@folivertx I understand what you're saying. The Connection Check is just one tool - one that was already available for the Video Doorbell Pro and Indoor Camera. We just enabled the functionality for the Outdoor Camera as part of the latest update.
But it's just one piece, and our dev team continues work on other aspects of the Outdoor Camera's performance.
