Microphone icon does not show up when doorbell is rung

I just installed the doorbell camera two days ago and it appears to be working fine except for one issue.  If I get a notification that there is motion at door and open the app to the Live View, the microphone icon appears and I can have two-communication.  But, if the notification is for a doorbell ring, then there is no microphone icon, meaning I can't communicate with the visitor.  Is this a design flaw, or I am doing something wrong?

I talked to a SS tech guy today.  He said uninstall the app, reinstall.  I did this with the same results. The tech guy said it must be a design flaw.   The software development team needs to get the microphone app to show up in a quick response to a doorbell ring.

Thanks for reporting. Just to double-check, when you get that notification, are you definitely selecting the Live View? Or could it be possible that you're being taken to the recording instead?

Just confirmed the microphone is appearing on a live feed on my doorbell cam, Android phone app. @johnnyM, your question is a valid one, especially since there can easily be confusion on what exactly you are looking at if you tap on the "ding dong" push alert on your phone. The current design has "live" at the top of the screen with a good amount of real estate down to the actual video pane. Suggest you put a small red area marked "live" in the actual live video feed to make sure there is no chance for confusion..or at least minimize it.

So... when someone rings the doorbell and I get a notification that says "Ding dong" , I should ignore it and instead open the app and search for the cameras- front door- live view?  Let me know if this is what I should do so I can decide if I want to return it and get a Ring.

Hi @jeverhart,

To put it simply, no. As long as you tap on the notification on your phone, it should bring you to the live camera view where you can speak to someone at your door using the microphone button. If the app is not working that way for you, then it sounds like that may be a bug that needs to get worked out.
