Doorbell reset????

I installed the doorbell and got it working. I was in the middle of trying to signup for the service. The doorbell disconnected and will not re-aquire. I deleted the camera from the app and was going to reinstall. The doorbell shows Blue Ring but I can't see it on the phone... it does not detect the doorbell. How can I reset the doorbell so I can reinstall the doorbell camera? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Apologies for the incorrect info we provided for this thread. The correct steps are as follows:

  1. Unscrew the security screw from the bottom of the Video Doorbell, using the provided T5 torx screwdriver. (If you have lost yours, our Support team can provide a replacement)
  2. Unmount the Video Doorbell
  3. Look for the Reset button, located above the micro-USB port
  4. Hold the Reset button for 16 seconds. When you release, the unit should reboot
  5. Re-mount the Video Doorbell as it reboots
  6. When it starts blinking white, it's has rebooted to Setup Mode
  7. You can then set up again in the SimpliSafe app

This did the trick

I'm also trying to re-install my doorbell. It worked but never sent any notifications when someone was at the door. I don't see any settings at all on my phone app for motion detection, night vision or anything else. Thought I'd just delete it and start over but can't figure out how to delete it from the app. Maxpro, how did you delete yours from the app?

Same question here ... removed from app, but can't get doorbell to reset.  Let it power for an hour, held down button on back, doesn't factory reset.  Help!

Hi all,

For a hard reset of the Video Doorbell Pro, hold the top button for 16 seconds, then release. You should hear it chirp as it reboots.

I just did this with mine, I changed wifi names so had to reset it.

I unmounted the doorbell from the mount on the side of my house.

brought it onto my desk and connected the android charger to it - It lit up red - above where you plug the android charger is a larger reset button - with the same tool I used to unscrew the special screw I held that button down for around 20 seconds until the light went yellow.

After I released it about 20 more seconds the light went white and it told me it was in setup mode.

This has been the best advice; bring the doorbell mount inside and connect the micro USB to a charger.  I did this for about an hour, then held down the reset button for 20 seconds until the light went red, then yellow.  I then was told I could enter setup mode.  I tried everything else up to this point.

The top button refers to the SimpliCam - the Doorbell reset is the large button on the back

@dave_2036 Yeah, on the back!  How handy!

It's certainly a little more secure. Random passers by can't just reset your camera, because it would be locked by the hex screw.

I had this issue. The camera just stopped picking up motion or notifying my phone when the doorbell rang. It is one of 6 cameras and two doorbells. I removed the security screw, did a reset of the doorbell by pressing the large button (top left side) for 20 seconds. Released it and re-setup the doorbell. Working fine now, but it is frustrating.

I just bought a simply safe video door bell. I already had SimpliSafe system but getting the camera to work was very challenging as I had an electronic chime, and just about everything that others have mentioned as a problem i also experienced to the point that I had to return 2 c√°maras that would not turn on after installation. Thus, I went to Home Depot and bought a Hampton bay  wired contractor kit 2 push bottoms door bell chime for $25 (mechanical chime)and installed it.  It is very nice because it comes with a new transformer Just one thing, the electronic chime that I removed had a diode Which you will need to install on the new chime.  Otherwise you will hear a lot of humming coming out of the unit Just hook up one end of the diode to the charm screw that says Tran an. The other end to the one that says front and hook up corresponding wires per chime's instructions. I hope that helps

Just reset my doorbell the third time.  Love the doorbell and overall system.
Plugged it into my USB for about an hour.  I think it was a dead battery.
Would really like upgraded software and functionality.

I had the same issue.  It was working for about two weeks and just stopped.  I'll pulled it off the app ("forget this device") and  I reset it a couple of times and finally got the while light around it.  In the house, I was able to get it set up again with the camera.  I went to put it back outside and the camera wouldn't function, it was giving me a no connection for the camera.  I made sure the connections were secure and retightened them.  Although, I'm not sure why it wouldn't be secure as it was working previously.   I have it charging now while I'm on hold with support (25 min wait).  I agree with another poster, this is very frustrating.  I replaced a RING camera, which I never had issues with this to go with the system and in two weeks, am having issues.  Why do we have to charge something that has electrical current going through it.....

Same experience here. Camera will never re-connect whenever my router is reset. Always have to delete doorbell from the app and re-install. Many times when re-installing, the doorbell camera does not read the scan code and I have to try and try over and over for it to finally respond to the code. Very frustrating for a new system. I also have experienced the 25 minute wait time for tech support. The reliability of the doorbell and the wait times from a tech company that claims to be the leader in this market is unacceptable. Ring is making big strides with there security offerings. I hope my $1400 investment for my 3 Simplisafe systems is worth it in the long run.

Found this on the website:

How do I change the WiFi Network that my doorbell uses?

Video on Doorbell not working.  While away yesterday, I got perhaps 10 "wifi disconnected" and "wifi reconnected" on Simplisafe Timeline,.  Video doorbell and three Simplicams not working.

Got Simplicams back online, but video doorbell still not connected.  This is frustrating.  Well, the doorbell "rings" when the button is pushed, but there is no Video.

EDIT:  Had to remove the video doorbell, and reinstall it.  (Large button above USB connector.). Then have to read QR code, and install wifi.
All seems good now.
I can't figure out how to reset mine. It seems most people plug in a USB cable, and the doorbell powers up. Nothing whatsoever happens when I plug mine into USB.

Arthur,

My video doorbell had power from it's battery, I did not need to connect the usb when removed.

There is a button (the larger of two on the left, above the usb connector) to be used for reset.

This link, also supplied above, tells about the reset process.
