Doorbell Camera

Does SimpliSafe have plans to release a doorbell Camera? Almost all of your competitors have this feature.

Okay I must've missed it??? Second Quarter came and went where is it?? I was worried that SS would delay on things. Same as the camera it was delayed too long...

@wellskin - I am not sure, but I think you missed one or two threads to post basically the same message.  Even though I am not as optimistic as the Captain, by my calendar, SS still has ~27.5 days to release the camera(s) in the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Well I emailed Dave and awaiting a response about the lack of the doorbell. And just like I thought SimpliSafe is dropping the ball here.

As the General said earlier in this thread, I am the eternal optimist.  Quarter doesn't end until end of tomorrow - and then I will pay off my  charity bet.

Think there's any serious gambling money in betting on product release dates?  Jimmy the Greek is dead, but I wonder what odds he would have given?  Horse racing is nearly dead any more, so I wonder if handicapping tech companies would pay better?  Would programmers and product managers have to be tested for 'doping'?  Though the SS breeding program might be a way to improve technology, and some of those guys might actually get girlfriends that way.

@glenbarrington, my apologies for missing your post; quite good and especially like the Jimmy the Greek comment.  Over the past six years I have lost more than my fair share of $25 charity bets on Simplisafe product releases (even on those seldom instances when I win I pay off too, as they are all good causes) but you do have a point. To go further, imagine if we had a large number of SS customers in on the action. With SS's track record, bet against the house and many, many charities could benefit.  Care to go in for $25 on the video doorbell?  I will take August 15th as the release date, if I lose $25 to your favorite charity; if you lose, you donate $25 to Alzheimers Assoc.

Is it possible with the new relationship with August that the doorbell camera could be from August?  That leaves an outdoor camera for other then the front door.  Would not be a bad way to go perhaps?

I hope they release this soon.  I feel like I have an incomplete system.  The new Ring security system looks pretty good, smart phone access is the default and is FREE, and monitoring is only $10 a month AND it ties in seamlessly to all their camera products.

I've always wished Simplisafe was set up the same way...a complete functional alarm with smartphone control and if you want professional monitoring that's all you pay for.   And all we have from Simplisafe so far is a pretty basic camera.  Though I DO really appreciate the privacy shutter.

If you've spent some time reading these SS posts over the years you do know it takes "years" for SS to produce something new even after all the input from SS customers!

Now that we're in October, is there any update on the release for the outdoor cameras/doorbell? One of the main reasons we went with SimpliSafe when we bought our home in March is that the doorbell cam was coming soon, but it seems like they've missed the deadline and given no update as to the progress. Our vehicles have been egged since we've moved in and these cameras would have been really helpful...

The iOS app had an update today stating (Version 2047.2.0):

Introducing SimpliSafe Video Doorbell

I see no mention on the website anywhere though, so the app gave the imminent release away.
