Doorbell Camera video blurry

I have had my doorbell camera installed for a month or 2. I don't recall it being blurry when originally installed, but now I have noticed the video has become blurry. The plastic protective film is not on and the lens is clean. Is the camera defective or is there someway to focus it? It has a upload speed of 8.66 mbps (Good) and a signal strength of -66 dBm (Fair). The recommended signal strength is -55 dBm. The video is blurry with the picture quality set at 1080p, 720p, and even 480p. Would one expect a blurry picture even at 480p with -66 dBm signal strength?

Hi kgildemast,

One important thing to note when it comes to video quality is that the setting for your camera dictates the maximum quality, rather than a set level.

All of our cameras use variable bitrate, which means that quality could decrease based on available connection strength. That way, the video can be sent to the Monitoring Service much faster, rather than waiting for more data for improved visuals.

I think that's part of what's happening here. Though of course, the next part of the mystery is why the camera is sending at a lower quality when the connection appears to be pretty good.

Perhaps it could be something going on with the camera's firmware, and maybe a reset will help (by unmounting the camera, pressing the button in the back for 16 seconds, and reinstalling through the app).

But if that doesn't work, then my next guess is that something might have gotten inside the lens. In which case, we should probably replace the unit.

Thanks Davey, I will try the reset.
