Cascading routers for cameras?

@BC987 in my humble opinion (and, yes, I know what they say about opinions but that aside) SS3 and cameras are encrypted end to end. The issue with your other IoT devices should not cause any issues with your cameras. Safer? Possibly but doubt is worth the effort.

You shouldn't need to do this for security reasons as all the simplisafe components that use WiFi are using end to end encryption (or we would have heard about such a glaring security hole by now). However, I chose to "harden' my simplisafe wifi by using a Verizon LTE WiFi hotspot and the d-link network extender recommended by simplisafe. I have this WiFi network just for my simplisafe system and devices. Connected everything to battery backup that didn't already have it. I like overkill though. At some point any system can be beat. I've just made myself the hardest target in the neighborhood by far.
