Can I turn off camera when alarm is off?

I recently purchased and installed SS3 and have one camera in my main living area. I know the camera is motion detected but is there a way to turn it off when the alarm is off and I am home?  Every time we walk by, the camera goes on and I get a notification n. I have tried to click the gear icon in the app and go to privacy settings, but I only have an option to shop systems. I don't have any other options. I have purchased the camera recording service, but haven't activated the alarm yet. Is that the reason why I can't access this option?  Thanks in advance for your help!

@gdpettiford, yes you can, and is configurable in the phone app.  BTW, the motion sensor on the camera is limited, I have mine off but a separate motion sensor covering the area.

Activate the alarm and you will be good to go. Suggest you call SS as you did things a bit backwards.  Get monitoring and for 1 camera the video subscription is included at no additional charge.  Not a bad deal.

Is it?  I thought a while back we had this discussion and a SS guy stated that 1 camera was $5 on top of the base plan, and if you have two cameras with the base plan, they would move you to the interactive plan because that did have the cameras free, and the cost of two cameras is equal to the difference in price between the plans.

But I could be remembering wrong, or the SS guy could have been incorrect.

@seven, it was the number of cameras we had memory issues on, I believe.  1 is covered for both. Now, I will just go to the search tool...ooops, that's right, Simplisafe, you never replaced it with a better one or anything at all.

Update. Used the Google search and found this:

@ecastrog57 The Camera

The Camera Subscriptions is an optional add-on for $4.99 if you have the $14.99 Standard Monitoring Plan. You can also activate the camera by itself for $4.99 without a system.

If you have 2 or more cameras, your Standard Monitoring Plan will be upgraded to the Interactive Monitoring Plan!

If you have the $24.99 Interactive Monitoring Plan then, then all camera subscriptions are included!

This subscription gives you access to camera recordings for up to 30 days at a time.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions about cameras and their subscriptions!

Even though direct from Lee, a SS rep, I thought SS posted something different last month. Anybody find it?

Hi @jenibop

Just to be clear, if you are subscribed to the $24.99 Interactive Monitoring Plan, the Recording Subscription for your Cameras is included at no extra cost. You will just need to opt into recording for each Camera to start the subscription.

If you are subscribed to the $14.99 Standard Monitoring Plan, and you add one Recording Subscription, it will be an extra $5 (so your monthly subscription will be a total $19.99 per month).

If you are on the Standard Monitoring Plan and add 2 Camera Subscriptions, you'll end up paying as much as the $24.99 Interactive Monitoring Plan. So we just automatically upgrade you to that plan and give you all of the other features, including Online Command, and Smart Alerts.

Finally, if you do not subscribe to any Recording at all, the SimpliCam will still be able to alert you when the Motion Sensor is triggered. You'll also be able to view a live stream of the footage, without recordings.

I am trying to turn the motion detection OFF on one of my cameras.
I have set it to off, (and saved) several times. Every time I sit at my desk, the dang thing comes back on.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Don't know for sure what's going on. However, sometimes it works to enable the setting (different than what you want), save it, exit out, then modify again to disable motion. I had something similar after a firmware update.

As a far more radical approach, you could also uninstall the camera and add it back to the system. This would add the camera back with all default settings, and whatever funny business is going on would should get reset.

Hello -

I just purchased a camera for our security system and have been searching the web for this same problem. I'm not sure it was ever resolved for the original poster, but now I've got it too.

The system is OFF but my camera still detects motion and sends the notice to my phone/app each time. Super annoying if the system is off. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks.

@baronebenoit Are you noticing this with the Indoor or Outdoor Camera? The Outdoor Camera was designed to be active at all times, so even if your system is in Off Mode it will still detect motion and send push notifications. There is a Snooze Notifications feature, though, so you can disable push notifications for a set amount of time. You can learn more in this Help Center article.

If you are experiencing this with the Indoor Camera, I'd set its privacy shutter to be Closed in Off Mode. You can do this in the mobile app by navigating to Camera Settings > [your camera] > Privacy Shutter and then set the Shutter to be Closed in Off Mode.
