To clarify, the Outdoor Camera has two different wireless connections to consider.
The camera links up to the Base Station for setup and motion triggers through its own local radio signal - the same connection used by the sensors. It does have a range of about 500ft over open air, but when there's physical and wireless interference (e.g. the walls of our home getting in the way), you do want to keep it closer.
But the camera uses WiFi and connects to your WiFi router to transmit video, and this is the more critical piece. The range of WiFi over open air is about 150ft.
