Since the camera is only three feet from the router, the issue is most likely not with the WiFi signal from the router to the camera. Try running a speed test on the camera to see if perhaps it may be a bandwidth issue. To run the speed test through the SimpliSafe app, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Cameras tab in the SimpliSafe app
Tap on the ‚öô Gear icon
Select your camera
Scroll down to the Connection section on this page and choose Connection Strength
After tapping on Start Connection Check you'll be prompted to start the test
Select "Let's Go"
After 1-2 minutes, you should have your results and the app will explain them a bit
In order to have a reliable connection for your cameras, you will need to have at least 2 Mbps of upload speed per camera. If you are still having trouble and your speed test returns good results try contacting our Support Team to do some more in-depth troubleshooting. We can be reached at
1-800-548-9508 or Customer-Support@SimpliSafe.com from 8 AM to Midnight ET, 7 days a week.
