Camera enhancements
I just installed and still learning, so maybe I just haven't figured out how to make the system work like I suspected it would.
Camera's they are NOT "Always On" unless you put them in Secret mode or the system is set for Home or Away. I prefer to have the camera's always watching and recoding on any motion detected. In Off mode the camera's shutters are closed and will not open with motion detected. If I set the system to Home and they start detecting , I don't want the Alarm to trigger because most of the detected motion will probably be me. These features are import for outside camera use, at least I think.

It sounds like you may only need to adjust some settings to get your camera to work the way that you'd like. As you know, SimpliSafe cameras will only detect motion and record whenever the Privacy Shutter is open. While the default setting for SimpliCams is to have the shutter open only while the system is in Away mode and closed in both Home and Off modes, these settings can be adjusted through the SimpliSafe app. To do so, you can follow these steps:
