Battery Life

Very disappointed- my battery didn’t even last 48 hours. I thought perhaps I received a defective battery with the outdoor camera so I purchased a second battery and it is the same. We are going to be gone for 24 days and this is not going to give us the protection we thought we were buying. Any suggestions?

Hi @lynnb1815, 

How many motion events a day does your Outdoor Camera pick up on? If the camera is facing something like a busy street and it is constantly picking up on motion, it can impact its battery life.

If you're getting more than 10 motion events a day, I would recommend setting up Activity Zones on your camera to remove certain areas in the camera's field of view that you don't want to monitor. You can do this in the SimpliSafe mobile app by navigating to Menu ≡ > My System > Camera Settings > [your camera] > Motion Detection > and tap the squares you don't want the camera to detect motion for under Activity Zones. 

There are also certain settings you can enable on your Outdoor Camera to help prolong its battery life. We list those settings out in this Help Center article

If you find that your camera does not pick up on many motion events a day, and its battery is still draining, we may need to replace the camera. Our Support team will be able to help you with that.
