App compatibility with Firefox browser

Can anyone provide a perspective on whether SimpliSafe has any plans to make the laptop app compatible with Firefox?

@wlf I just tried it and, after the 2FA, got in but it looks like SS is hinting they want you to then download the SS app and use it instead of FireFox.  As I don't work for SS, looks like they are phasing out support for FF,  but I will just go to the CRC, click on the Customer Software portal and easily find out the status....not. SS, how is that CRC going? Just a friendly reminder a one page status page, done by a high school student in a few hours, can take care of that for you.

And in case you were wondering, Simplisafe Social Team, yes, please be social and post a response.  Consider it a "Jersey hint". :-)

Thanks!

PS don't blame SS attempting to direct customers to using the app, or, push towards a particular browser. Less support issues and cost. What SS can be knocked on is poor communication.

Hi @wlf,

Currently, there are no known issues with logging in to the SimpliSafe Webapp through Firefox. Because you seem to be having some issues, there may be something in your settings for Firefox that could be causing the issue. If you could provide some more information about your issue such as any extensions that you have installed and where the log-in process is going wrong, we'd be happy to do our best to help.

@Team S.  When I tried logging into firefox (current update) I can assure it did not display properly, not even close, with a prompt from your site to download the android phone app. Suggest you refer it to tech dept for verification at this time.

Hi @Captain11,

It sounds like you may be using Firefox on your phone? While there are no known issues with Firefox itself, the display of the SimpliSafe Webapp through a mobile browser (Firefox, Safari, or Chrome just to name a few) will always include the banner at the top redirecting you to use the SimpliSafe app. We do this to ensure the highest customer experience as the user interface will much more reliably size itself in an app as opposed through a mobile browser.

@Team S. thank you for the response, however, that leads to a clear understanding of how a customer expects the browser to behave with your website. Example: occasionally I will log into the website to have access to the forums, an area not available on the Simplisafe app (which will hopefully be addressed once your new forum area and CRC are completed.)  That said, I can definitely confirm your website has worked fine in the past on phone browsers, but currently does not on the latest version of Firefox, yet, the website displays fine in MS Edge, latest version.

Again, no issue if SS does not want to support certain browsers, just request it is clearly communicated in the current non existent CRC or even a static status page.

Recap: Website does not display correctly in Firefox on Android Pixel 4a, works perfectly on MS Edge.

Just signed on successfully with FireFox (ver 85.0.2) for the first time. Had to disable the Add Blocker. Previous versions didn't get past the acknowledgement of the 2FA screen.
