Sensor for gun safes

Could a sensor be developed that would work inside a fireproof safe? I don't believe a entryway sensor would be able to communicate with the base through the thick walls.

Hi!

That's a great question. You are certainly correct that the walls of a safe may be too dense for wireless communication to work properly.
What we would suggest instead is to simply protect the whole room that the safe is in - perhaps with a Motion Sensor. That way, the intruder won't even have time to circumvent the lock or take the safe out of the room before the alarm starts to sound!

Along with the room being monitored by Simplisafe I have a Safelert Monitoring System in my Fatboy which monitors temperature, humidity, door and movement.

As I know fireproof or waterproof safes really may obstruct the signal, but i have a small safe from this list wisepick.org and I made some experiments with phone signal through its walls. And yes, it's true, fireproof walls are too heavy.

If it were me, I'd modify an entry sensor to use an external wired switch, with the switch inside the safe and the modified sensor outside (out of sight but accessible to the SS base)

I just have the room protected more than any other room in the house.  Motion, camera, and even an entry sensor on the door to the room set to secret alert.

I'd have two sensors, one set to secret alert and one set to AWAY
