Roomba sets off my motion sensor every time

I have my simplisafe motion sensor attached to the wall at 6 feet high. Every night it's getting triggered when my Roomba starts vacuuming office. I was told it wasn't supposed to happen and yet here I am. Is there anything that can be done?

Hi Len,

One important thing to know is that the Motion Sensor is the passive infrared type - that is, it's looking for sources of heat that are moving around in the room. The sensor is calibrated to ignore smaller heat signatures, so it can hopefully ignore small pets. It sounds like unfortunately, your rob-vac is generating enough heat to set it off.

The other thing to note is the viewing angle. You mention you have your Motion Sensor at 6ft up on your wall. Here's a visualization of what that viewing angle looks like:

When your sensor is high up, it misses everything directly underneath. But the Roomba might still be caught if it's far enough away.

But what you could do is place the Motion Sensor upside-down, and lower it on your wall to about 4ft. That way, it will miss everything below its own level, but will still catch any heat signatures moving around at people height.
