Pets Interfering with Water Sensors

Have any of you had issues with a pet getting a water sensor and chewing on it? Apparently, dog saliva is a conductor and will trigger the water sensor. LOL

I've been thinking of how I might keep our dog away from it - perhaps some sort of repellant especially for dogs, but it's inside the house and don't want that odor indoors if possible.
