How to change sensor chimes to verbal announcement

How do you change the chime setting so that for instance, if the front door opens the systems says "front door" (or something of this nature) instead of just beeping?

thanks,

Holder

Hi @tcwatkins,

Thanks for chiming in! We definitely appreciate feedback from all of our customers and have made sure that our development team knows that an additional customer is also requesting this feature.

That can't be done.  You get the beep.  That's it.

It's something I'd like to see as well.  It can announce the sensor when you are programming it in, you'd think it could also do so for the chime.

Simple safe for some unknown reason cant change the beep when a door opens instead of the useful "back door". I guess you get what you pay for yep it is simple alright.

Simple safe for what ever unknown reason cant call out "back door" instead of a couple of beeps. That does not  identify where the door or window us being opened.  The home owner cant run around the house finding if a friend or foe is coming in, pretty lame for a security system

SimpliSafe,  are your support folks engaged with the customer forums to assist with answering these questions and helping customers resolve issues?

At a guess, no  :-)

The only way to maintain your sanity with SS is to expect that the way it is now is the way it always will be.  Then if they do make a change you like, it will be a pleasant surprise, and if they don't, you won't be annoyed.

Hi all,

While we haven't been able to pay as much attention to the forums as we'd have liked, you all may have noticed an increased presence over the past few weeks from our Social Team. We plan on keeping this increased presence while we work towards some greater changes coming to the forums later on.

I also will back the fact that this is a common and HIGHLY searched feature. I was very disappointed 4 years ago after I purchased my system that this basic option was no deal. Despite hundreds of requests on the forum and reddit for this, we still don't have it. If I would have known this before purchasing, I never would have gone with SimpliSafe. It's one of those things you don't even research because you assume every security system has entry announcement (and they all do, except SS.)

With that being said, in reply to the fact that your team is just now logging back into the forums - if we still don't have the feature say, 6-8 months from now we will know that just like every other time, the "We've forwarded this to our development team for consideration" is nothing but BS like we have always thought.

The sensors announce during battery low and testing. Capability is there, so add the setting. Do it for the customers who are disappointed but keep throwing $$$ at you every month.

Hi all,

We do try to keep track of as many of these requests as we can so that we know which features are the highest priority for our customers. In keeping with that, we have sent this request to our dev team.

Team S,

If you want to keep track of requests, and the most popular, this one would probably be the ultimate (as well as multiple user accounts) - maybe one of the supervisors or higher ups should spend some time on the forum to see what date exactly it was first brought up (or give Chad a call, he was probably on the forum at the time, lol) - and then they'd also know what it's like for new users when they don't have a search function.

Not trying to be snarky.  Just kidding, yes I am.  I think it's only fair I can be snarky on rare occasion :)  This occasion because, put simply, the request for the base station announcing which named sensor was opened (in any mode) has been around for about 20 Simplisafe dog-years!

I've been wondering the same as most have on this forum. If you have an two or more entryways and you're not sure which door has been breached, you could run in the wrong direction possibly right into Danger. Have Voice Audio would be so much better. For such a sophisticated system you would think it would have this option.

I don't plan to run towards danger; I plan to be in a protected position and let them come to me.

I'd like to bump this post up and add a plus one to adding this feature to the system when not in test mode. I think this is super important and a very useful feature. In my case, with children, we like to know what doors/windows are opening. While this works awesome in test mode, it would be even more beneficial to add the ability to use the current "chime" or "speak device name" such as in test mode.

Hopefully this gets implemented!

Highly Needed Feature

Bump- this feature is standard on most systems. It would be awesome if the system could announce which entry sensor is being activated. Can you provide an ETA once your Dev team evaluates the work Team S.?

No, they can't.  They probably won't do this, and if they do decide to do it, they won't tell you that or provide an estimate on availability.  And frankly, if they do it, they may not even tell you when they complete it.  We've found out changes when someone finds it accidentally and reports it here in the forums.

In SS eyes, the CIA are way too gossipy  :-)
