Glassbreak Settings

@rasipley​ Great question. Possibly they were afraid you would set them off by accident. All of my entry sensors, including glassbreaks, are set to instant trigger, except for the kitchen door leading into the garage, that we always use.  Tip: When we are home and asleep upstairs, we have the entry/exit delay to 0/0 so it makes even the kitchen door sensor act the same as "instant trigger" would.  

There are many other considerations to address, feel free to ask here in the forums as you come across them. Many friendly and helpful folks here.

You may want to use the search tool here in the community to see how else you may want to configure your system.

- Make your base quiet with no prompts or lights, hide it?

-Purchase nylon entry sensors from Etsy and use them on your garage doors (customer hack only btw)

-use "layers of security" to improve your system's effectiveness

-Camera location tips

-Have certain motion sensors active in home mode (they are off by default)

And many many more.

Great answer.  Thanks for the info.  I'll check out the search function in community as I become more familiar with my settings.  One follow up question.  Now that I've set my sensors to instant trigger, do I still get the entry/exit time to enable/disable the system as I enter/exit?  Thanks again.  Really appreciate the answers.

@ras Once the system begins the countdown for entry, a sensor on instant trigger or otherwise, will not set off the alarm.  If you have one entry door and someone is expect to come or go, there has to be an exit or entry delay, and by plan, SS doesn't let you go below 30 seconds on Away. At home it can be 0/0, like we have it, because when we set the system in home mode we don't expect anyone coming in.

If you have doubts, call SS support (not chat) and ask to submit your floorplan of your house and location of windows, doors and air ducts.  We did when we first started 13+ years ago and it worked out very well with our SS2 system, and then SS3. 

Important: Do not set your door that you use to enter and leave the house to instant trigger. Use the enter/exit delay settings to help manage that one door.
