Entry sensor went offline for 14 hours

I noticed one of my entry sensors went offline for 14 hours. This is on a sliding door I almost never open. I opened it this morning and the blue led didn't flash like they usually do. I removed the sensor from the door and then it started working. I mean this stuff need to be 100%. It's only 3 months old. I sent an email to support.

I've had entry sensors and motion sensors go offline as well.  I'll get a warning from the base saying that they are not responding.  It happens frequently with my smart locks.  SS sent me another base, but I'm not sure if I'm going to waste my time.  I have a ton of sensors and I would have to manually readd them all and set it up.  If I was guaranteed that it was the base, then I'd do it.  I just have my doubts that the base is at fault.

Just weird that the LED didn't flash until I removed it from the door. Let's see what SS support does. The system has been fine for 3 months.

"Sensor not responding" means that the base pinged a sensor and did not get a response.  This could be due to a defective sensor or the sensor is in a location which has a weak sensor, or new or temporary interference was added between the sensor and the base.

Unless EVERY sensor gets this error, it's not the base.

Best debug is to change the sensor with the problem with one which does not have the problem.  If the same sensor fails in the new location, it's probably a bad sensor.  If the problem now appears with the sensor in the old location, then the problem is probably the location, in which case the fix is to move the sensor or the base, or remove anything newly placed between the base and the sensor.

In my case, I switched my front door lock to the garage lock that is having the sporadic problems.  Within a day, the front door lock started having problems.  That rules out the lock.  I have moved the base station all over the place and it hasn't made any difference at all.  I get the message when I arm or disarm the alarm system.  At that point, nothing is turned on anymore.  You might say that my house is in a base state where everything is as turned off as it's ever going to be.  95% of the time, it's the garage door lock that is the problem.  One time, it was a cascade of all three locks.  One time that I'm aware of, I lost a motion sensor and an entry sensor.

I don't have anything unusual powered up.  I have my router that's on all of the time and that's about it.  And I've been through two routers since this started.

It's a shame that this is so sensitive to outside interference.  The receiver for the ADT system that I had was bolted to the inside wall of the utility closet in the basement and it never once lost contact with any of the wireless sensors.

I've sunk way too much money into this system to just give it up and try something else.  But there is literally nothing else in this house that I can unplug.  I like the system, but it feels unreliable because of this.

Had the same thing happen to my SS3 base station. Moved base station did not resolve problem. Shut off just about every thing that used WIFI except my router, and still no joy with sensors going offline. Even deleted sensors and used a couple of new entry sensors and had the same problem of going off line. Called Simpli Safe support, and was sent a new base station installed a couple of days ago and all sensors are good so far. This system is only 5 months old.

@arawan would be good to know If your still having this issue or if new base station resolved it.

My base station keeps saying bathroom sensor not responding. I have removed this under devices and reconnected it. It is now saying offline on the system. What do I do next?

^  try re-seating the battery first.  If re-seating battery doesn't resolve the issue, change the battery to a new one.

2. try moving the base station slightly closer to the sensor.

3. test the sensor in a different area in the home, if you don't get the 'not responding error', chances are,  the previous location was the issue (interference maybe).  If you continue to get the error with it in a new location, the sensor could be faulty - call SS for replacement if within 3-yr warranty.

4. make sure the sensor and it's magnet are no further than 2 inches apart, and ideally, slightly less than that.

Hi @Kaemin,

If you are still getting an error message immediately after pairing a sensor to your system we recommend checking the serial number of the sensor that is giving the error. In your SimpliSafe.com account, if you head to Devices in the menu and then look at your list of devices you can see what the serial number is of the sensor that is giving you the error by hovering over the device name. Once you know the serial number of the sensor that is having issues, check that against the serial number of the sensor to make sure you are troubleshooting the correct sensor.

I just had this problem. Took the sensor and magnet down and took them close to base station, removed the battery then reinstalled it. Tested - good to go. Issue resolved.
