Entry sensor restored issue

Yesterday got an alert via app that an entry sensor “not responding”. Opened and closed the window - got alert that “device restored”. Several hours later set alarm to home and got a warning on keypad and audio from base about the same sensor. After a cup of coffee this a.m., checked the keypad and the same sensor was not still not synced.  If the app says it was restored, why doesn’t the keypad know that??

@brkennedy901 When the message is generated it will appear in several areas, in the app, on your dashboard and on the keypad. I have found in the past it is necessary to delete it on the keypad or in the app.  I am sure Davey or someone from SS will respond with clarification.

I’ve had this happen twice, all I do is open and close the window or door. Usually just once and it will resume syncing to the base station.

Hi @brkennedy901 and @vegandj,

The way that our sensors work is that once every hour, they check in with the Base Station to the system know that they're okay. If the sensor fails to check in after several hours, that's what generates the "No responding" warning. If the sensor at any point successfully checks in again, that's what prompts the "restored" message.

So basically what's happening here is that the signal from your sensor is being impeded - but not all of the time. The most obvious reason for that is if the sensor is too far away - but with a range of up to 500ft (over open air), it shouldn't have a problem in an average home.

The other major culprit is interference. This could be either physical obstructions, like dense walls or appliances that are literally getting in the way, or other wireless signals that are competing for the same airspace.

If you like, you can let us know a bit more about where your problem sensor is located in relation to the Base Station, as well as what's in between. That can help us with troubleshooting and preventing the sensor from having trouble in the future!
