Entry Sensor battery replacement: app/keypad still shows the sensor as offline

Replaced the entry sensor battery as app showed it as offline.  Still shows as offline in both the app and on the keypad even though I get the blue light blinking.  Pressed the button on the sensor.  Still nothing on the app/keypad.  Ran Test Mode from the keypad and the system recognized it.  Got out of Test Mode and still no change, shows offline.  Followed all of the directions from the website, this should have done it.  When I open close the door that it is used on, it doesn't chime.   Anyone know why it didn't work and what should be done instead?  Or is this a bug?

Hi @CA_user_3,

If you remove this Entry Sensor from your system and add it back, does it clear this offline message from the app and Keypad, and does the Base Station chime when it is opened?

No! I have done this several times. I also did it when I replaced the sensor with the new one provided by SimpliSafe.

I have the exact same problem on one of my steel doors. The sensor is mounted on a 1/4" plywood that is attached to the door. I even had the sensor replaced by SimpliSafe and the problem persists. I'm not sure what to do next. I wish someone had a suggestion that would resolve the problem.

@jsumma It sounds like you've taken steps to prevent that sensor from demagnetizing on that steel door, which is great. If that was the problem, you would see the sensor being persistently marked as "Open", and you probably wouldn't see the LED flashing to indicate that the sensor was properly able to sense the smaller magnet piece.

Is the steel door directly in the way between that sensor and your Base Station? It seems more like there's physical interference that is blocking the wireless signal. It may be possible to move that sensor to different spots on that same door, where it would have a better chance at communicating. Alternately, you can try moving the Base Station to different spots as well, to test it out.

We've got a few more things to try on our Help Center page, and of course our Support team can help as well.
