Entry and Motion False Alarms – Two Days in a Row
Last week Friday, our alarm at the family cabin was tripped. First an entry sensor on the side door was triggered at 4:01 p.m. and then a motion sensor in the hallway near the door was triggered at 4:02 p.m. We have two indoor cameras, but, unfortunately, they weren't set up to catch that door or that hallway. There was no indication of any activity in the house on the cameras, and I couldn't hear anything on the recordings that were taken for the two sensor events or watching live on the cameras afterward (it's a fairly small cabin, so any talking or even footsteps would most likely be captured). We drove up to the cabin and there was no evidence that anyone had broken in or entered the cottage. We moved one of the indoor cameras to see the side door, and we left the cabin Saturday morning, resetting the alarm to Away.
On Saturday, our alarm went off again. It was the same two sensors that triggered and at the same exact times — 4:01 p.m. for the side door and 4:02 p.m. for the motion sensor in the hallway. The camera by the side door showed that the door never opened. There was no activity at all on either camera.
We haven't had any other alarms in the three days since then, but I'm trying to figure out what might have caused those two false alarms. The system has been set up at the cottage for approximately a month, and these are the only issues we've had. I have a SimpliSafe system set up at my home that we've used for years and have never had any similar issues. I can't think of a good explanation. Any ideas? Thanks.
