Do glassbreak sensors work in unheated spaces like garages?

I know what the recommended temperature range is, but some posts show that people have successfully used entry sensors and motion sensors in unheated garages and other unheated spaces well below the recommended temperature range.  However, I have not found a post that says whether anyone has tried a glassbreak sensor in unheated spaces, so I am asking if anyone on this forum has tried to use a glassbreak sensor in an unheated garage or another unheated space and whether it worked successfully or not.

Hi rjwolfsr,

 

The main thing all of those sensors have in common is that they're battery powered. So in terms of environment, that would be the limiting factor. Lithium batteries don't do well in extreme cold, so you might get some decreased performance or lower than expected battery life.

 

Otherwise, the Entry Sensor works by a magnetic switch, so it can work at any temperature.

 

The Motion Sensor works by passive infrared,  i.e. by detecting a contrast in heat. So in extreme cold, even small heat sources could appear much larger, and that might result in some false alarms.

 

And finally, the Glassbreak Sensor is a non-recording microphone, which again works just fine in colder temperatures.

FYI, according to https://simplisafe.com/files/pdf/instructions/manual_ss3_12_05.pdf here are the operating temperature/humidity ranges for SimpliSafe Gen3 equipment at the time the manual was created. It seems like , officially, the sensor will work just fine until it drops below freezing. Aside from Davey's comment above re: battery life in cold weather it's likely the sensors effectiveness may diminish or cease entirely as the temperature drops further below freezing. 

Hope this helps to add some confidence on top of Davey's response. Please note that I created and populated the table manually but the raw data is below the table as well as on document page 21 of the PDF linked above.
