Hi cliffordfine,

So long as the main sensor piece is no further than 2 inches away from the magnet, you should be okay. For recessed doors, it might even be necessary to place the magnet on the inside, so that the door swings right past it when it opens. Our Support team at 800-548-9508 also has slimmer magnets that you can try.

Check out this guide in our Help Center. You might find the images helpful.

Install spacers under the sensor to align it.

@rashelharris I think tls was describing a custom solution, just using any material that could fit into that space. For example, a block of wood cut to size.

I'm having the same problem; my frame sticks out further than the door. Do I need to add some sort of spacer to the door to get the sensor to match. What is the correct fix Thanks Wayne

@railrider that would depend a little bit on your door. If you would like to share a photo, we might be able to give more specific advice.

But this older article should still be useful as a guide on various installation options.

Our Support team can also provide you with a Slim Magnet, in case you need to install on a narrower/tighter space.
