Any difference in the version 1 and version 2 motion detector?

I somehow missed that there is a new version of the motion sensor as of April 2023. Is there any difference in how the new version operates or any additional functionality it provides? (Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I couldn't find any details one way or another.)

It looks to me (from the PDF Installation Guide) that there are some differences. Besides visual design modifications (which seem like improved corner mounting), it mentions five extra feet of motion detection, and Gen 2 now has Pet Mode. I wonder how well it works.

I noticed the visual difference when ordering new sensors before my vacation. I believed it to be a distorted picture of the product as the round part of it is much larger. I ultimately decided I did not need any more motion sensors.

@worthing @shiherlis For testing I went out to Best Buy and purchased a "Gen2" motion sensor to compare to the orignal SS3 motion sensor. Let me get to the spoiler alert first: I mailed the Gen 2 to niece as a gift. Not impressed.

In my testing "Pet mode" not only didn't pick up my neighbor's 60 pound dog it didn't pick up me at 165 pounds crawling on the floor. SS support's suggestion was to put it unit in normal mode, which worked fine but in the end I will stick with my original motion sensors that have the sensitivity switch of L, M and H. IMO much better to use than the Gen2. Period.

Gen 2 motion sensor does not have the Low, Medium and High sensitivity switches. Why did Simplisafe eliminate this feature? I wanted to go to Medium or Low to reduce the sensitivity to use in a room with a lamp set to a timer to go on and off, and in a room with sunlight, and be confident that this would not trigger the motion sensor.  The Pet Sensitivity setting in Gen 2 cannot address this problem, I believe.

@howard99999 If you read my post in this thread, you already know I am not a fan of the Gen2.  I would stick with the original motion sensor. I have 9 of them all work perfectly where they are now located and on the settings I have them at. Work great.
