How to Arm or Disarm Your System

Updated

The SimpliSafe® security system has three armed states: Home, Away, and Off Mode. When in Home or Away Mode the SimpliSafe® system will be armed, but different sensors will be active. And if you are subscribed to our Fast Protect™ (formerly Interactive Monitoring) or Standard Monitoring plans, arming your system is the only way to ensure a monitoring agent can request emergency services in the event of an alarm. When the system is in Off Mode, none of your burglary sensors (i.e. Entry Sensors, Motion Sensors, or Glassbreak Sensors) will be active. How Do I Arm My System?

You can arm your SimpliSafe® system into Home or Away Mode using either the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, Keypad, or Key Fob.

Using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App

To arm your system using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, tap either the Home or Away button on the home screen. You will see a countdown on the screen and hear your Keypad’s exit delay countdown, notifying you that your system is in the arming process. Once your system has been armed, the button for the mode that you armed your system to will be blue.

Using the Keypad

To arm your system using the Keypad, press either the Home or Away button. You will see a countdown on the Keypad’s screen and hear its exit delay countdown. Once your system has been armed, the Keypad’s screen will display the mode it was armed to.

Using the Key Fob

To arm your system using the Key Fob, press either the Home or Away button. You will hear your Keypad’s exit delay countdown, notifying you that your system is in the process of being armed.

How Do I Disarm My System?

You can disarm your SimpliSafe® system into Off Mode using either the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, Keypad, Key Fob, or Smart Lock.

Using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App

To disarm your system using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, tap the Off button on the home screen. Once your system has been disarmed, the Off button will be gray.

  • Please note: there will be no Keypad countdown while the system is disarming.

Using the Keypad

To disarm your system using the Keypad, press the Off button and enter your Master or Custom PIN. Once your system has been disarmed, the Keypad’s screen will say “Off”.

Using the Key Fob

To disarm your system using the Key Fob, press the Off button.

  • Please note: there will be no Keypad countdown while the system is disarming.

Using the Smart Lock

When you enter your Master or Custom PIN on the Smart Lock’s PIN Pad to unlock the door, this will also disarm your system. If you enter your Duress PIN, we’ll request dispatch from the police immediately.

  • Please note, the Smart Lock cannot arm your system when you lock your door. It can only disarm your system when you unlock your door.

  • You can also customize your Smart Lock to lock or do nothing when you arm your system to Home or Away Mode, or have it lock, unlock, or do nothing when your system is armed to Off Mode. To learn more about the Smart Lock’s settings, visit our Smart Lock Settings & Customizations article.
