I'm Moving, What Options do I have for my SimpliSafe® System?
We understand how stressful moving can be. We’re here to help you understand your options when it comes to moving, whether you’re taking SimpliSafe® with you, or leaving your system behind.
Below you’ll find some of the most common moving scenarios, along with our recommendations and best practices for each situation.
If you’re relocating your entire system to a new location, there are a few steps you’ll need to take prior to moving.
At your Current Location (Prior to your move)
Order a Mover’s Kit by calling us at 1-888-692-0229
Schedule your address change in advance, by chatting with our support team (opens in new tab)!
Label your Sensors and Cameras
Prevent False Alarms!
Remove your Sensors and pack up your Devices
At your NEW Location (After you move)
Check to see if you need a Monitoring Permit (opens in new tab)
Download a Monitoring Certificate (opens in new tab) and check with your homeowner’s insurance for any discounts
Teach SimpliSafe® your new Wi-Fi information if it has changed during the move
Mount your Sensors, Cameras, and/or Smart Locks
If any devices changed locations while moving, you can always rename the device/sensor (opens in new tab) or camera (opens in new tab) within the SimpliSafe® App (opens in new tab).
If you need to reinstall anything, you can find the corresponding Installation Guides on our Help Center! (opens in new tab)
Update your Master PIN (opens in new tab), Custom PINs (opens in new tab), and your Safe Word (opens in new tab), if necessary
The great part about your SimpliSafe® System is that you can mix and match what products and devices you take with you, or leave behind. We encourage you to take your Base Station and Keypad, but you can take or leave your sensors and cameras as you see fit! It’s important to keep the Base Station and Keypad together, as they are paired to one another. So if you plan on taking at least one, consider both of them to make the process easier for you!

If you plan on leaving your system behind for the next owner, or plan to purchase a brand new system (opens in new tab) for your new home or business, the best step is to call us at 1-888-692-0229 so we can go over your monitoring needs, such as transferring your service to a new system (opens in new tab) at your new location.
After you've spoken with our team, you’ll need to remove all cameras from your system (opens in new tab). This includes Outdoor Cameras, Indoor Cameras (Smart Alarm Indoor Camera, SimpliCam®), and even Video Doorbells. This is to ensure that the new owner of the system can set them up on their account.
You’ll also need to remove any Smart Locks from the Device Settings tab (opens in new tab) within the SimpliSafe® App (opens in new tab).
Once these devices have been removed, you’re all set to leave the system behind! The new owner of the property at that location will need to create a SimpliSafe® Account (opens in new tab), then they can activate monitoring for the system (opens in new tab).
