How do I set up text or email alerts for my SimpliSafe?

 Updated

Does your Keypad look like the one pictured to the left? Then you're in the right place! You've got the Gen 3 SimpliSafe system. If you purchased a system in 2017 or earlier, you have the Original SimpliSafe. Click here to view the article about the Original SimpliSafe. If you're not certain which system you have, you can tell the difference here.

SimpliSafe offers text, email, and push notification alerts for subscribers on the 24/7 Interactive Monitoring plan. You can set these alerts up via your mobile app or our online app from your browser.

From your mobile app

  1. Download and install the SimpliSafe App from the app store if you don’t already have it.

  2. Open the SimpliSafe Smartphone App and tap the ☰ icon at the upper left.

  3. Tap Alerts & Notifications.

  4. Tap the type of alert you'd like to add, Email or SMS.

  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setting up the alert.

    • Name the alert, choose the type, and fill in your information.

    • Tap to check the options for Alarm, Activity, and Error you would like enabled. If you’re not certain which ones you’d like, we recommend choosing all three initially.

      • Alarm—Smart Alerts when system alarm is triggered.

      • Activity—Smart Alerts when system is armed or disarmed, and for sensors set to Secret Alert.

      • Error—Smart Alerts on Power Outages and Sensor Errors.

  6. Tap Save Alert to save your changes.

  7. Verify the alert type.

    • For SMS alerts, you’ll receive a text. You’ll need to press the Verify button in the app, and then copy the confirmation code from the text into the box.

    • For email alerts, you’ll receive an email with a link to verify the email address. Click it to complete setup.

From the webapp

  1. Visit our webapp and log in.

  2. Click Add User.

  3. Choose between SMS (text alerts) and email, and enter your information.

    • For SMS alerts, major carriers are at the top of the list—the list is not entirely in alphabetical order.

  4. Verify the alert type.

    • For SMS alerts, you’ll receive a text. You’ll need to press the Verify button in the webapp, and then copy the confirmation code from the text into the box.

    • For email alerts, you’ll receive an email with a link to verify the email address. Click it to complete setup.
